Hilton Head
Here in the Hilton Head Island area you will find so much more than just a beautiful piece of Hilton Head Real Estate. The second largest barrier island on the Eastern Seaboard, Hilton Head has it all...
Golfers will revel in playing courses designed by such PGA favorites as George Fazio, Robert Trent Jones, and Arthur Hills. A short drive off the island, you will find even more championship courses. Whether playing a riverside course with lakes and lagoons, or an oceanfront course with its beautiful view, a day of golf here is one you won't soon forget.
With 350 courts and any variety of surfaces, Hilton Head Island is home to the some of the most renowned tennis facilities, including Van Der Meer Tennis and Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center. Players of all skill levels will find the tennis on Hilton Head Island unparalleled.
To get a true sense of the LowCountry, try experiencing it on horseback. At Lawton Stables you can trail ride through the Sea Pines Forest Preserve experiencing the area up close and at a leisurely
pace. Take in the moss-covered Oaks, the variety of area plant life, the Herons and other birds -- perhaps even spot an alligator basking in the sun.
Hilton Head real estate also comes with the benefit of accessing and experiencing the twelve miles of pristine beaches and gorgeous shoreline that Hilton Head has to offer. Here you will find so much more to do than sunbathe. The hard packed sand makes it ideal for bicycling – as does the additional 50 miles of bike trails throughout the island. For one feeling a bit more adventurous, there is an endless array of water sports to participate in including waterskiing, windsurfing, parasailing and jetskiing. If fishing is more your style, whether you prefer saltwater fishing, flyfishing, deep-sea fishing, or casting from a bridge or pier, Hilton Head provides.
Harbour Town Marina is home to the recognizable landmark red and white striped lighthouse. Built in 1969, the lighthouse aided boats traveling the Calibogue Sound and the Intracoastal Waterway. Today the lighthouse is open to the public and oversees an exceptional harbor filled with awe-inspiring yachts. Enjoy the quaint shops and restaurants located here as well.
Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge, located a short ½ mile from Hilton Head Island in Beaufort County, is a 4,053 acre refuge that includes four islands and a number of small, tidal hammocks. With over 14 miles of hiking and biking trails, you can explore salt marshes, tidal creeks, forest land, brushland, and fresh water ponds while enjoying this beautiful island. Along the way you will see a vast variety of plant and wild life. Hilton Head Island is home to 250 species of birds throughout the year, making this area one of the top birdwatching sites in South Carolina. Kayaking around the perimeter of these islands or exploring the many creeks here allows you the opportunity to view its natural beauty and the sea-life and sea-mammals that abound in the area.
Along with the many recreational opportunities associated with Hilton Head real estate, you will find a vibrant art and cultural environment as well. From the highly rated Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, to the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina with its award winning professional performances, to the many art galleries located throughout the island, you will find numerous visual art, concert, theater, and dance venues. South Carolina's first residents, the Gullah/Geechee people, and their West African roots, add to the culture of the area. A Gullah Celebration takes place at different spots on the island throughout the month of February and celebrates the music, dance, and craftmanship of the Gullah culture.
